Manitoba History's Intern Editor and UM History PhD student, Krista Walters, invites everyone to attend the launch of the Fall 2014 edition of Manitoba History: The Journal of the Manitoba Historical Society.

This issue features articles on Filipino immigrants to Winnipeg by Alison Marshall (author of the award winning Way of the Bachelor) and the movement of Winnipeg's Jewish community from North to South end by Dan Stone, retired University of Winnipeg history professor. Our speakers for the evening will include Dr. Marshall, Stan Carbone (Jewish Heritage Centre) and Tim Higgins, on Winnipeg's Great War legacy.

$500 awarded for the outstanding historical dissertation written for a doctoral degree at a Canadian University between October 1, 2013 & September 30, 2014

$250 awarded for the best article published in a peer-reviewed journal by a PhD or MA-level student in French or English

FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE
Newberry Library Fellowship in the Humanities
The Newberry Fellowship Program is designed for advanced scholars conducting research in the Humanities.
   Long-term fellowships: 4-12 months, $4200 per month
   Short-term fellowships: 1 month, $2500
Deadline for 2015-2016 academic year: December 1 (Long-term) and January 15 (short-term)
