New Releases

David Dixon CD - "(Dixon's) self-titled album is one of the smoothest records, from beginning to end, I’ve ever heard, especially given its wandering styles. There’s a lot of sultry soul on the album, whether it’s “Stay” or “Love and Hate” with its wonderful guitar solo near the end. The album has a lot of personalities, all coming together to where it’s almost unnoticeable. There are aesthetics of funk, rock (the early crunching guitar on the slow jam “Sway”), western feel on “Wrong Way,” hints of ska (“Even Steven”) and “Don’t Forget Tonight” is a circus of styles, moving from jam band exploration to something sultry and sassy."  - Brian Tucker, StarNews Wilmington

Coming Soon

Jake Clayton - By the Light of the Moon CD - Multi-Instrumentalist Jake Clayton is back and this time he brought the vocals with him! The new Jake Clayton album features 10 songs of mostly alt-Country music that mixes hard rockin’ twangy guitars & energetic drumming with an array of some of Country music’s favorite Instruments. All topped off with Jake’s precision vocal approach and 3-part harmonies. The result is a unique, modern mix of old school and contemporary Country Music with dashes of melodic hooks, a pinch of rock attitude, a touch of bluegrass, and a hint of metal. CD includes a 12 page booklet.
Gov't Mule - Dark Side of the Mule CD or DELUXE (3 CD/DVD) - Few bands have a reputation for making music as consistently honest, organic, and daring as Gov’t Mule. But in curveball mode, and for the first time in its 20-year career, Gov’t Mule has delved into its vaults to create multiple configurations of its fabled Halloween 2008 performance at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston.  The show featured a long and varied set of impassioned, expertly executed Pink Floyd covers (spanning 80-plus minutes) as only the Mule can deliver, with guest saxophonist Ron Holloway.
Grateful Dead - Two From the Vault (4LPs) - First time ever on vinyl! Limited four vinyl LP pressing in a gatefold Stoughton "tip-on" M-Pack jacket. Recorded live at the Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles) in 1968, and freshly remastered in 2014 by Joe Gastwirt for maximum mind expansion. Nine dynamic songs on eight sides of wax - five songs weigh in around the 15-minute mark, while three others touch down close to 10 minutes. This is the Dead at their most improvisational while still retaining the Blues-Rock roots of the "Pigpen" years.

Last Week

Mac & Juice Quartet - Can You Tell Me CD - The first release of the solidified  lineup showcases the organic, electric essence of the band in its current, always evolving form.  The nine songs on the album perfectly document the band's gravitation to an edgier rock influence and highlight the unity of the ensemble as a whole, while still maintaining the signature warmth and soulful roots of the music itself at its core.

The Disco Biscuits - The Classical Set (2LPs) - This special afternoon show was performed on Aug 16, 2003 at a festival we put together in the mountains of Trade, TN called “TranceMission." The tracks consist of arrangements of some of the most famous classical pieces of music, mixed with some Biscuits classical-inspired originals. I vividly recall the band tearing through the sheet music of the conductor’s score and crafting our own unique four piece orchestration that still stayed true to the written music. This limited edition, four side, official release contains original artwork by Gwen AP Original Art, liner notes by Jon Lesser, a special bonus track on side 4, a download card redeemable for a free digital version of the album.

Roastin' Chestnuts with Zach Gill CD - A new holiday classic from Zach Gill of ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) and Jack Johnson's band, featuring 2 originals and 6 classic holiday covers. Jack Johnson is featured on "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
Jason Isbell - Live at Austin City Limits DVD - Isbell performs songs from his critically acclaimed, award-winning album Southeastern along with songs from throughout his career, including fan favorites “Outfit” and “Decoration Day”. The set closed with a rousing rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, a live staple.
