Medicaid Toolbox: In July 2010, NAQC published this toolbox to encourage state quitlines, tobacco control programs and Medicaid agencies to increase the level of cessation services available to Medicaid members.

Sustainability Toolbox: In July 2010, NAQC published this toolbox to help quitlines better communicate with the media, policy makers and the public about the importance of their work.

Policy  Playbook: In August 2010, the Policy Playbook was updated with new content on approaches for smokefree implementation, tax increases and call volumes, integration with tax increases and lessons learned and challenges. The Playbook focuses on promoting quitline services to smokers following the enactment of new smokefree laws or the implementation of tobacco tax increases. The strategies included in the Playbook help states maximize cessation attempts through the use of quitlines and suggests an ideal approach to accomplish this goal.

Call Center Metrics: Best Practices in Performance Measurement and Management to Maximize Quitline Efficiency and Quality (2010)
This issue paper defines the most critical operational, service performance and efficiency-related call center metrics for establishing and maintaining quitline quality. The paper, authored by Penny Reynolds of The Call Center School (www.thecallcenterschool.com), makes recommendations on important metrics to measure (including why they are important for funders, service providers and callers); recommendations on how to measure and report these metrics; and describes how these reports may be used by both the service providers and funders to improve quality.

U.S.Quitlines at a Crossroads: Utilization, Budget, and Service Trends 2005-2010: This special reports talks about the number of tobacco users calling quitlines that increased 116% between 2005 and 2009, according to the report and that, despite this increase in demand, total funding for all U.S. quitlines decreased for the first time ever in Fiscal Year 2010.
