Meet Lou Bloom. He's energetic, efficient and willing to go the extra mile for a job well done. He'd be handsome too, if his oversized 'sad kid painting' eyes didn't offer a window into chilling nothingness.

I really wish Archer Magazine had existed when I was in high school. A Melbourne-based bi-annual publication, Archer honestly and intelligently opens up discussions about sexual diversity – which can be an emotional minefield for people in general and teenagers especially. It's predominantly written by and about the LGBTIQ community and during its short existence has examined topics such as sex work, polyamory, gender dysphoria, and fetishes with a refreshing lack of sensationalist spin

It's a pretty horrible feeling when the final drinks bell rings at The Bird and you were just starting to get your boogie-beer combo in full swing. If no house party is happening the choices are limited with Connies and shamefully Amps hitting the possible agenda – sadly that’s how it is when Perth hasn't seen a new club license for the past 15 years. At least for this summer there will be one more option – Joe's Juice Joint; a semi-permanent dive bar.

Pressed Earth should be like a model for a lot of beverage companies. While I really like those juice boxes in my lunch box with that cartoon apple on them, I'm confident of the fact it offered literally zero dietary benefit. I haven't looked too hard into the issue - but I'm also confident that I don't think lightning berry or mango blast are real sub-categories of fruit.

If Georgia Perry was a colour, she would be all of them. Her vibrant and bright style is equal to every episode of Yo Gabba Gabba! condensed into one splash of boldness. Georgia started out making zines and posting cool pictures she drew on her blog. Her Boobs and Burgers zine from five years ago sits proudly next to my copy of 1984 as important literature. The biggest difference between the books? I've actually read Boobs and Burgers. Twice.

It’s back! No longer will the wind whistle through the empty halls of YEVU’s 'sold out' sign emblazoned online store. Anna Robertson, the genius creator of the label, is back from Ghana ( and a hugely successful pop-up stint in ooh la la fancy London) and stocking up the virtual recesses with fresh gear. So what's YEV-new?

Red Bull Music Academy is treating Perth to another free gig, this time at The Good Shepherd. Those energy drink dudes seem to be on the pulse of what we're after with British electronic musician Lone being brought over to lay out his unique ambient house tunes.

With six LP's to his name Lone is no amateur. Lone's latest release was only a few months ago back in June when he dropped Reality Testing, a record that picked up a respectable 8 out of 10 on Pitchfork. Holly Ryan Pearl Hooks

There’s earrings and then there’s Holly Ryan earrings. A Queensland based designer, Holly hails from a family of silversmiths and her hand-crafting skills are phenomenal. There’s something extra-special about knowing the shiny bits hanging from your lobes aren’t just powder-covered lead lumps from Diva but sterling silver adornments, crafted by hand. The designs are classic and minimal and seem effortlessly timeless. Inspired by brutalist architecture and Sol LeWitt, this girl doesn’t mess around.

The most recent range, ‘pOla’ has included iridescent pearls added to Holly’s signature clean lines. Featuring sharp chokers, chains and assymetrical stud-clusters, the collection is super-feminine and eerily futuristic. Ian Thorpe must be steaming with jealousy, because this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing presentation of pearls we’ve ever seen. We have one pair of the Pearl Hook earrings, available in white or black pearl to giveaway. To enter, answer the following question:

This Week's Question

Who famously dropped a pearl in vinegar and drank it to win a bet?

a) Kim Kardashian
b) Cleopatra
c) Fran Drescher
d) Amelia Earhart

Send your name, postal address and preferred colour to perth.win@thethousands.com.au with ‘Pearl Hooks’ in the subject, and your answer in the body.
