Ever wondered WHY you travel?
It's something I've been asking myself a lot lately and I am quite excited to talk about this topic with you. In fact, this question has made me change the focus of The Travel Tester blog a bit as well.
Studies show that travel makes us happier, younger in spirit and more creative, but there are many more factors in life that can be attributed to whether you decide to travel or not.
Think about all those travel brochures and magazines, travel TV-shows to even travel blogs: all those ‘top 10 things to do in...’ and ‘must see things in....’ lists aren't really things that everyone HAS to see or do, right? There has to be something else here...
Because travel is such a personal experience, you'll find out quickly that the real reason you travel isn't to tick of as many countries as you can. It's not about impressing your friends and it's definitely not what what everyone else tells you it should be for you.
Time to start using the word YOUrism instead of TOURism?
Travel adds something to your own personal development. It encourages you to evolve towards a better version of yourself. And that's why you shouldn't just be looking for activities to do on a trip, but experiences that will reinforces your inner journey.
So tell me, why do you want to travel?
- Is it to have fun?
- Is it to enjoy the good life?
- Is it to get active?
- Is it to learn a specific skill?
- Is it to find new energy?
Whatever reason you have for taking your next trip, think about how you could match the destination with that inner journey. How can a destination specifically assist you in giving you what you need to grow as a person?
In 2015, The Travel Tester will be focusing a lot more on travelling with a purpose, finding your inner journey and helping you plan a trip that will hopefully make your personal dreams come true.
