THE MARKETPLACE

If you haven't discovered the Marketplace on my website, www.pmhatwater.com, please do. I operate the Marketplace as a public service - to advertise the products and services of near-death experiencers and those like them. You will find incredible healers listed there, artists, builders, a seminary, organizations that address the very subjects akin to transforming consciousness, creative gifts, counselors/therapists, and "the" best way to keep razor blades sharp - for months, maybe even a year (follow the directions I give and be amazed----save money, too). Here's two more - new listings:

Gary and Lisa Duden This is a father/daughter team who offer psychic guidance, clearing of negative energies, counseling, mediumship, Reiki healing, hospice work, and a full line of dowsing skills - specializing in stress relief - not only for individuals - but for homes, buildings, properties. For those who are challenged with "entities," paranormal strangeness, and such, give these people a call. Being a dowser myself, I am especially impressed with Gary's ability to use copper rods to help protect against Hartmann Grid Lines (usually negative) and Geopathic Lines of Stress.

Vicki A. Anderson During a decade of medical vertigo and otherworldly visions, Vicki patiently discovered that "what I could still do" as a hobby is "what I could do for others." And what she has done is remarkable. She's blended into what she calls "Innerjazz" - not only a hobby-shop full of crafts and "how-to"classes, but a center for Child Development and the Creative Arts in Learning, Art as a Spiritual Practice, Utilizing Earth Resources (awakening ground clay, appreciating branches, polar fleece, papermaking/paper cuts, costumes). You could easily do all or most of your Christmas shopping at her Center in Exeter, NH, or take classes there.

OH, DEAR, HOW DO I TALK ABOUT THIS ONE…

Most of you know I was in Columbus, Ohio, last month to present the "Glimpses of Beyond" double feature - drawings and sharings on Dying to Know You: Proof of God in the Near-Death Experience, and to give several other talks at the Universal Life Expo. When I left, a fellow quickly handed me a copy of his book and disappeared. No trace. Books given in that manner are hardly ever read; become gifts for others. But this time I couldn't let go of it. The energy of this book is different. Here's my review:

SHIPWRECKED: REFLECTIONS OF THE SOLE SURVIVOR - AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
by Dennis Hale

Published by McNaughton & Gunn, Inc., 960 Woodland Drive, Saline, MI 48176.

You can reach Dennis at P. O. Box 104, Rock Creek, OH 44084.

This is a unique and powerful book that won't let go once you start reading it. I mean it grabs you. The ore freighter Daniel J. Morrell was ripped in two by gale-force winds on the Great Lakes. The entire crew disappeared, all but Dennis and three others who made it to a raft, dying one by one, except for Dennis. Think Edmund Fitzgerald, the song that became a haunting hit, the horrible tragedy that wound up becoming part of our cultural mythology as a people. This is what happened to the Daniel J. Morrell. Water and air temperatures were frigid that night, survival virtually impossible. Dennis believes that having his life jacket next to his skin, putting on his pea coat over the life jacket, then having little else on contributed to his survival (no clothes to ice up). What he learned from a hard-luck childhood made a difference too. You see, the emergency happened at night when he was in bed. With little or no light, he just grabbed what he could, which was precious little. The Coast Guard never saw flares, distress messages went unheard. Adrift in icy swells, snow, no food or water, he hallucinated some, then went on to have a stirring full-blown near-death experience that gave him the courage and the faith to continue. Pages of his reckless days as a youth are interspersed between the drama of survival and what came next. Lots of pictures, lots of evidence - you really get to know Dennis. Highly recommended.

From Kent Nerburn (one of my favorite spiritual writers)

"The Cab Ride I'll Never Forget"

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. One time I arrived in the middle of the night for a pickup at a building that was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked.

"Just a minute," answered a frail, elderly voice.

I could hear something being dragged across the floor. after a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing," I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated."

"Oh, you're such a good boy," she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?" "It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice." I looked in the rear view mirror. Her eyes were glistening.

"I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long." I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like to to take?" I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit, staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now."

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. "How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse.

"Nothing," I said.

"You have to make a living," she answered.

"There are other passengers." Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. she held onto me tightly.

"You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you."

I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great memories. But great memories often catch us unaware - beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

SCREWUPS ON WIKIPEDIA

ATTENTION. . .

If you attempt to find out something about one of the pioneers of psychical research or even about current scholars and scientists investigating this area, the chances are you will, if you Google the person's name, first come upon a Wikipedia or Rational Wiki site that gives a very negative view of the person. Clearly, the debunkers and other philistines are controlling these sites. But several organizations, including the Society for Psychical Research in London (SPR), are making efforts to provide more accurate and factual information. Recently, Robert McLuhan, who heads up the SPR project, was interviewed. If you are interested in reading that interview, click on http://whitecrowbooks.com/michaeltymn/.

Michael Tymn, by the way, is one of the finest and most accurate writers in this field.

By the way, in an article he wrote on "Evidence and Enlightenment" for The Searchlight publication of The Academy for Spiritual and Consciousness Studies, Michael said: "Time and again Illumined Souls have stressed the importance of reason, one of our priceless possessions, repeating the injunction: 'Think, and accept. Think, and reject. Think, and suspend judgment. But think! Faith cannot bring reason, but reason can bring faith.'"

With thanks to the Houston Chronicle and Hagar the Horrible...

SPECIAL QUOTES TO SHARE. . .

>From author, speaker, and television personality, Wayne Dyer:

“Loved your Dying to Know You.”

From Susan Bush:

"I found that her book, Dying to Know You: Proof of God in the Near-Death Experience, which was the focus of her talk October 25th, is a wonderful book. I found that it aligned nearly perfectly with everything I have come to believe, both through my own experience of NDE and from metaphysical readings, and from just plain "knowing" things that I had ever since my NDE-Like experience. I am glad that she chose it to talk about as I think that it has a lot of information that most people do not put together by themselves. We usually just consider the bits and pieces, not the entire width and breadth that was presented in that book."

From Darleen Lindstrom (about the Glimpses of Beyond Program):

"The evening was perfect energy - from your introduction to the audience's attentiveness to Dr. Atwater's heartfelt presentation."

From Robin Walter (about the Glimpses of Beyond Program):

"The meeting was great! With all those people, could you imagine an open conversation - WOW!"

From Lisa Peck (while reading Future Memory):

"I thought I'd tell you a few incidents of future memory of my own. I call them flashes because it seemed quick but all encompassing. I had this vision flash of going to the hospital as a visitor, calmy approaching the nurses station, and asked what room my friend was in. It was not scary or anything, very almost routine. And this actually happened. Another time, I was driving and I heard a very distinct voice say, "There are deer up ahead." I was so shocked that I turned the full blast of the radio down and said, "What?" Well, no answer. As I continued to drive, I thought I'd go ahead and look for the deer. On my left, in the woods, were five or six deer! Ha.
Thanks for your book."
