Sponsor Spotlight

Street Property Group service Newcastle, The Hunter, Lake Macquarie and surrounding areas, and operate offices in Newcastle, New Lambton, Whitebridge and Wallsend. They engage and specialise in property transactions across the entire property spectrum.

Commitment to success for clients is a Street Property Group tradition. Through empathy, honesty and integrity, they aim to provide a positive and stress-free real estate experience.

Andrew Walker is the Managing Director. He is a 1st grade premiership winning player, former President and University Colour recipient of Uni Rugby.  Not only has he been a long standing sponsor of the Club, but his three sons have also proudly represented SeaHorse Rugby.

In addition to their generous upfront financial commitment, Street Property Group have offered to contribute a percentage of any fees generated from the sale of property that is listed with Street Property Group, as a result of a specific referral to the company from Uni Rugby, as additional sponsorship in Season 2015 and 2016 .

"Mates rates" will apply to vendors, as has always been the case.

This is not limited to current, former players, supporters and friends of Uni Rugby but any person who identifies that the referral was from Uni Rugby.

Put simply, sell through Street Property Group, attract mates rates plus a proportion of the fee goes to Uni Rugby.

Off-Season Training & Screening

The squad have been back lifting in gym and on the field undertaking fitness drills under the watchful eye of Chris Smith & Josh Manvell.  They are very capable young men & our Club is most fortunate to have the benefit of their expertise.

On a recent Saturday, they conducted a screening & conditioning testing programme at NU Moves Physio & Uni No.2 Oval.  This allowed players who attended to be provided with a tailored regime to follow over the Christmas break. It will also be beneficial for injury management in season 2015. Another session is planned for Feb 2015 to accommodate new players and those unavailable for the initial session.

Only two formal sessions (Tues & Thurs) remain before the end of year break.  Players should keep an eye on Facebook, your 2015 Coach (see below) will be at the Tuesday session to introduce himself and share some of his expectations.

The meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday (2 Dec) in a lecture room of the PE Building next to The Forum.  The weights session in the HPTZ will start as normal at 7.30pm.

Coaches 2015

As announced to those at training on Tuesday, Tony Hogg has been appointed 1st grade coach for season 2015. Col Pratt will be the coach of Colts.

Tony and Col have been involved with the Club in some capacity since the 80’s, with 8 winning 1st grade premierships between them and well over 500 Club games. More importantly, they epitomise the “University Rugby culture” and are committed to instilling these virtues in our current & future playing groups and returning Uni to a dominant position in Newcastle Rugby.

Hoggy will bring not only his experience and Uni passion, but a large group of engaged old boys to fill roles around team management and other support staff roles. Hoggy has previously coached Uni 1st grade, taking them to a grand final in 2003 and being awarded NHRU Coach of the Year along the way.

Pratty (who really needs no introduction) is a qualified Level 2 coach who is also involved in the Hawthorne Gold and 7's programmes with Chris Coleman, the Colts coach for the Newcastle rep team in 2015.

Christmas Drinks / Meet the Coaches

An open invitation is extended to anyone wishing to join Club members for an informal Christmas drink on Friday, 5 December at The Albion Hotel, Wickham from 5.30pm (that's when happy hour starts).

It will be a great opportunity to meet (or reacquaint with) the announced coaches, check out our new Hotel sponsor and to catch up with your Club mates before the students head home for the break and the silly season starts in earnest for others.

Come along to hear about some of the exciting changes already happening, the initiatives planned and the continued rise of the Sea Horse in 2015. Stay for the beer.

Vale Warren Brock

It is with regret that we advise of the passing of Warren Brock on 20 November 2014.

Warren represented The SeaHorse between 1956 and 1964, playing fullback.  Warren is remembered as an all-round sportsman, also opening the batting for the University cricket 1st XI during that time.

The University of Newcastle Rugby Club extends its deepest condolences to his family.
