Farewell 2014

Dearest couples, families and friends,

Please allow me to take a moment of your time and say a massive THANK YOU to you all!

This year has been an incredible year for Splendid Wedding Company and we hope to inspire you with the beautiful work we have done. A massive shout out to all 2014 brides - you trusted me, you have allowed me to be creative, you helped me to push the limits and design beautiful and amazing weddings for you. I am grateful to my incredible team and suppliers for always deliver their very best.

I have put together a few images of the past twelve months, of the gorgeous couples and their beautiful weddings. Enjoy!

We ended the year on a high with the wedding of Pumla and Zani Nhantsi. It was an incredible wedding where two families came together to celebrate true love, family values and traditions.

This wedding was very special to me. I can't explain this, but being around Pumla is always magical. She has this incredible demeanour and the whole year I could not wait for this wedding. It was always such a pleasure going over details with the families for whom I grew the deepest respect.

On the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly and there was beautiful energy surrounding Memoire. Everything was perfect! The whole week the weather reports threatened us with thunderstorms. And yet, on the day of wedding the clouds were there, brewing, but it did not rain! Perhaps sticking the broom in the tree and putting the knife into the grass helped - both of which we did during the cocktail hour!

When it was time, the Rolls Royce Ghost arrived to fetch the bride. Pumla looked magnificent in the Vera Wang gown that was kept a secret for months! Her arrival to the church caused great deal of jubilation.

The main theme for this wedding was family, love and making sure that every single guest was comfortable. This was one impressive guest list with prominent dignitaries, businessmen and dear friends arriving in style to dance the night away.

Louis Roederer Cristal 2006 was flowing as 325 guests toasted the couple. So cheers to Pumla and Zani, wishing you health wealth and happiness! May you be blessed today and every day!

We kicked off the year with a gorgeous wedding inspired by the Pantone 2014 colour of the year - radiant orchid. It was a gorgeous wedding, mixing masculine and famine and a perfect fit for the young and vibrant couple Jaclyn and Clayton.

I remember the couple's shoot and the magnificent heart shaped cloud creating a stunning backdrop! What a perfect sign of blessing for the couple for whom God is ever present int her daily lives.

One of the weddings we did in December took place at The Polo Room, the new venue by By Word of Mouth in Inanda.
This wedding was inspired by glamour, opulence and the styling reflected the couple's regal statue.

Pascale's bouquet has to be my absolute favourite from the 2014 season. I remember swooping up the flowers and then falling perfectly into place - hydrangea, larkskoop, peonies and greenery. It really suited Pascale's vivaciousness and carefree glamour.

Louise Vorster is the name I heard the whole year, when I checked out her blog I fell in love with her work. Then I met her very briefly in June, so when she contacted me to be part of the styled shoot, the answer was YES PLEASE!

We spent a day at Turbine Hall shooting portfolio book for Oak Hearted. It is a new clothing label developed by Chanè and inspired by signature vintage pieces and interesting textures. Oak Hearted embraces new ideas and to add that something unique to a women’s daily life.

One of the highlights of 2014 the opening of The Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff. Splendid Wedding Company had the privilege of decorating the first wedding.

Martin and Milda's wedding was on 4 October and it was the perfect time for white and spring flowers.

Christiaan David took these stunning images that captured the atmosphere of the day.

Speaking of Christiaan David, who is an incredible photographer but also a very dear friend. It was a great honour to style his wedding. It was even more awesome to attend it as a guest. Wedding people sure know how to party!

Christiaan and Chanelle, you guys deserve all the happiness in the world! So here is to more beautiful memories on the personal and professional fronts in 2015!

One of the coolest weddings we did this year was Nicole and Brett's wedding at The Glenshiel. A glass marquee, fairy lights, music, laughter, amazing food were all a perfect fit for a fine wedding day in May. One of my all time favourite styled shoots took place at Summerplace and it was a Grecian Inspired shoot. The one and only Rensche Mari took these awesome images. The idea behind this shoot was to create a relaxed, casual yet glamorous look in white and touches of gold. Chrystalace created beautiful stationery.

The Cradle is one of my favourite venues. Maybe because of the beautiful African setting, or because all those years back when I was starting off, The Cradle was the venue who started recommending me to their brides.

This year, we did two incredible weddings there - Katie and Tommy's in April and Paige and Craig's wedding in September.

Katie and Tommy's wedding was shot by Tyme Photography (love these guys) and later featured on Wedding Friends. It is worth checking out, and the video by Silent Video Production is really special! To view this wedding click here.

On the note of the favourite venues, here is a shout out to Shepstone Gardens! It was wonderful to be back there this year. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the glass marquee and we had a fun putting together awesome weddings there. I can go and on... This year we did 43 weddings so there are so many other weddings and styled inspirations I could share.
