Lesson 514: The Heart Wants What It Wants
Emily Dickinson wrote “The heart wants what it wants”. Our desires powerfully influence our actions each day.
Often we like something or feel attracted to someone, and we don’t know why. Sometimes when people “fall in love”, they can’t describe what happened. So they talk about chemistry or a “spark”.
Sometimes we also want something and wish we didn’t. The Good Shepherd is not the only shepherd; Jesus is not the only one who leaves the 99 to go after one who strays.
God calls us to walk according to the Spirit, following God rather than our flesh. Rom.8:4-8
We crave many things: relief from pain, someone to praise us or pay attention to us, security, power, money, food.
If our desire is turned away from God’s purposes, it controls us.

About This Series
