Lesson 515: Never Satisfied
“One more look” is never enough. The eyes of man are never satisfied. Prov.27:20
One more tasty treat, one more shopping trip, one more look at that website.
One more juicy piece of gossip. One more drink. One more vacation. One more pay raise.
Unless our desires are directed as God designed, they will remain unsatisfied.
When our desires always demand gratification and never find it, they become our master.
When the goal of our life is more money or more success, we will never achieve enough.
2 Pet.2:14,19 They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin… They have hearts trained in greed… They promise them freedom, but… whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
James 4:1-2a What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
