Lesson 521: Streams in the Desert
Luke 10:18 Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” Rev.12:7-9; Ezek.28
This reminds us of Isa.14:12 “How you are fallen from heaven”, which describes a king of Babylon who was energized by Satan. 1 Tim.3:6 The prideful boasting sounds like Satan:
Isa.14:13-14 I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God. I will set my throne… I will make myself like the Most High.
Satan is the one “who made the world like a desert” through the temptation which led Adam to sin and God to curse the ground. Gen.3:17-18; Jer.4:26, 10:22
The kingdom of God is the extreme opposite of a desert. Ezek.47:1-12; Rev.22:1-2
Isa.32:2,15-16 like streams of water in a dry place... until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest. Then justice will dwell in the wilderness
Isa.35:1,6 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus… then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert
Isa.43:19 I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isa.41:18 I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
