Incubator Alpha Testing

Building Regenerative Business Communities

An amazing group of cutting-edge business thinkers have been coming together to test a business incubator at The Integral Center in Boulder, Colorado. Together we are developing systems for groups of sustainability-minded entrepreneurs to work together to build thriving businesses based on Permaculture Principles, Integrative Theory, Dynamic Self Governance, and Agile Development. The goal is to design systems that can be replicated to create affordable regenerative business incubators anywhere, giving everyone the opportunity to re-design their local economies while while making a right-livelihood doing what they love.

Last Meeting 11/25/14 6-8pm (Sprint 1, week 5 of 6)
Peter, Dre, Bradley, and Jacki were present. Peter and Dre are working on an extract business and Bradley is helping out with several businesses and brought Peter and Dre to this meeting. Peter and Dre are trying to figure out how to structure their organization so we decided to talk about Holacracy. Jacki presented the basic principles of Holacracy and answered questions. We drew a circle diagram of Peter and Dre's business and began filling it in with all of the roles they currently have and some of the roles they could create. Peter and Dre were excited about allocating responsibilities more clearly and want to continue this process with Jacki in the future.

Networking
Jacki expressed that she still needs more regular attendance at the incubator and is looking for people who want to use The Integral Center as a co-working space to create more of a community. Jacki created a Doodle for participants to say when they are available for future incubator meetings. The link to the Doodle is here. Please fill out all the times you would be available. Also, let Jacki know if you would be interested in using The Integral Center as co-working space. Peter also offered that his sister and her friends may be interested in attending, he will send Jacki her contact info.

Bradley wants to be a part of the extract industry. Dre and Peter will meet with Bradley in Denver soon to talk about it.

Dre needs help with organization, networking, and transportation. Bradley offered to be a chauffeur. Jacki offered to help with systems design and business planning. Dre and Jacki will set up a time to meet via email.

Peter needs help dealing with stress, taking time away from work, and getting away from the computer. Jacki and Bradley suggested that he schedule more time off when no work will be done unelss there is a catastrophic emergency.

Next Meeting 12/02/14 6-8pm (Sprint 1, week 6 of 6)
At this meeting we will have a sprint review where we will talk about how the last few weeks have gone and how we can modify the structure for the next sprint. I'd like to take the rest of the time to talk about project management software and show everyone my website so we can start using it to communicate between meetings. Every business needs data management systems so this could be a useful conversation for everyone. If we have time we could also talk about business design using Permaculture principles, which is a topic in our "In Progress" column that we haven't gotten to yet. I hope to see you there!
