Rez Refuge Milestones

This year has been huge for us here at Rez Refuge from gaining new employees to having an amazingly successful Thanksgiving Dinner with the community. In the spirit of the Holidays we would like to extend our gratitude to all of you who continue to support our mission and keep our dream alive. Read on to find out more about our recent accomplishments and Holiday Happenings!

Our staff has built relationships with local individuals and organizations to help bring awareness to our cause. In addition, they have provided us with presenters one of which was Miss Navajo Nation 2014 seen above. Our programs have blossomed tremendously- the After School Program attendees have increased to 100-200 individuals in a week. This has been a dramatic change from our weekly count of 35-50. We have also hired on two new tutors- Mr. James Thompson and Mr. Cleofus Nelson.

Our harvest season was very successful we managed to provide snacks for the kids by teaching them how to cook their own food with vegetables they have grown in our garden. We also utilized the corn grown to make homemade cornbread for our Thanksgiving Dinner this year. Our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner provided for 84 individuals this year, all of which was provided by Rez Refuge staff and community members.

We have teamed up with the Window Rock High School's Garden Club to provide a local community garden in one of the neighborhood's empty lots. The community, Rez Refuge, and the Garden Club came together to clean the lot at two of our "Weed and Feeds," both were very successful. Seen here is one of our committed board members, Mr. Joel Harper, helping put up a boundary fence for the garden.
