Scientists are buzzing about an extremely rare sea creature that washed ashore recently in Australia. A 10- to 13-foot animal believed to be a "beaked whale" was discovered at Redhead Beach, 93 miles north of Sydney.

Deciduous Oak (Quercus aegilops ithaburensis) (Jordan national tree)
Woody tree 8-5m long, with thick rough stem and strong braches, and 5-8cm long grayish leaves, with wavy to shallowly lobed margins. Flowers are not showy, but quickly fallen and arranged in a well-spaced catkin. Fruits are 4-6 cm long, thick, cylindrical, with rough solid cupule.
Habitat: Grows in the low altitude forest formation; Irbid, Amman, Salt, Jarash, Ajloun, Karak and Tafila.
Flowering Period: March and April.
Uses and benefits of Deciduous Oak:
- Deciduous Oak are a source for the finest types of wood in terms of hardness and durability or susceptibility to formation and polishing.
- Food source for wildlife where it is the food for some wild animals and livestock.
- Tannin rich roots of Deciduous Oak are used in tanning leather.
- Deciduous Oak bark and fruits are used as a treatment for many medical conditions in Arab medicine.

Common Name: Common anemone
Scientific Name: Anemone coronaria
Perennial herb, 15-25 cm long, with subterranean corm of 1-1.5 cm in diameter. Parsley-like dissected leaves of 2-3 cm. Red, violet or white flower of 4-7 cm in diameter. Dark showy stamens, surrounded by green dissected bracts.
Habitat: Mountains and heath lands; Irbid, Ajloun, Jarash, Salt, Amman, Karak and Tafila.
Flowering Period: February - April.

Renovation of Al-Rummana Tower Area of Dana Biosphere Reserve (5,000 JOD)
The Al-Rummana Tower region is one of the most important areas for the local communities and it is the only area for the people of the Al -Baseera region in particular.
In an effort to raise awareness, RSCN is training the reserve team and teaching them how to cooperate with each category of people who come to Dana, be they visitors or local residents. The tower is important because it presents precise, quality information about the reserve and the surrounding areas as well as the policies of the RSCN. The exhibit encourages both visitors and local inhabitants to support conservation projects in the reserves so that each member of society becomes a protector of nature.
