Lesson 497: Desiring to Please God, Pt.2
Rom.14:10-12 we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
2 Cor.5:10 we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
1 Cor.4:5 It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
When we stand before God at the Judgment Seat to give an accounting for our works, our hearts will also confess (agree) with God’s Word. We will acknowledge that whatever good we did, God enabled. We will praise God for His grace, His blessings, and His will working in us.
This will be our heart, not only at the final judgment, but every day in every prayer.
Knowing God’s grace will prevent us from asking “Lord, bless me because I’ve been good.”
Knowing God’s heart will enable us to trust in His mercy alone, not in our achievements.
We trust God to do what is right even when we can’t explain because we know Him.
Our prayer will be “Lord, bless me because your Son perfectly satisfied your holy justice.”
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
