Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 482: The Source of Holiness, Pt.2
The righteousness that sanctifies us before God originates in Him. We strive to do right, but He gives us the strength and direction.
We reach for Him, but He gave us the love. We trust with the faith He provides.
We are soldiers in the battle against sin and Satan, but the victory is His.
1 Cor.15:57 thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
What is the cause of our sanctification? Some say it is 100% of God and 100% of us.
This needs clarification: God is working in us, which requires us to engage all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. It does not mean that God helps us and gives us points when we obey.
Unbelievers think any goodness comes from within; Scripture reveals God is the source.
Our struggle with sin makes it increasingly obvious that we need God to rescue us.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
