Multi-media interventions to address racial bias among children & youth

Naomi Priest, PhD
HSPH Visiting Scientist &

Alfred Deakin Senior Research Fellow
Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia

While the harmful effects of racial discrimination and bias on children and youth are increasingly documented across a range of health outcomes, evidence of effective interventions in this area is currently limited. This presentation will discuss emerging evidence from anti-racism interventions in Australia that use a range of multi-media strategies including a smartphone app, social media campaigns, and a multi-sensory interactive museum exhibit. It will also explore future directions for such intervention work among children and youth to address bias and discrimination across multiple forms and attributions such as gender, sexual orientation, disability, and weight.
