Mark your calendars for OFMA's membership dinner, Friday, February 27 and the 2015 OFMA Annual Meeting Saturday, February 28. The annual meeting coincides with the OSU Small Farms Conference and takes place at LaSells Stewart Center and CH2M Hill Alumni Center in Corvallis. Details about OFMA's membership dinner with presentations will soon follow.
We used your survey responses to shape the conference sessions. Topics will include:
- Applying to federal and state grants
- Learning best practices in marketing
- Planning and operating SNAP, Rx and other community nutrition programs

FSMA Food Safety: Round 2
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently released revised sections of major new food safety regulations that were originally proposed in January 2013. The rules are part of FDA’s implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
Many of the comments OFMA members submitted last year are reflected in this new draft of the regulations. Yet despite improvements, the updated set of rules continues to overburden and discourage diversified, direct-marketing farmers and markets.
Once again, we have the opportunity to bring these concerns directly to the FDA through a public comment period. Now is our chance to shape the rules before they become law. The comment period closes on December 15th.
