At English Expo: KOTESOL, KEERA, Materials Displays


On December 12-14, 2014, the English Expo in Seoul is expected to draw 50,000 attendees, 100 exhibitors, and 250 booths--and it includes two great mini-conferences! First, on Friday, December 12, KEERA is hosting a mini-conference from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (10,000 won pre-registration, 20,000 won onsite registration). Then on Saturday, December 13, attendees are invited to KOTESOL's mini-conference. Running from 10:15 a.m.-5 p.m. the KOTESOL mini-conference features twelve workshops in two strands. The schedule and abstracts can be found here

The KOTESOL mini-conference will cost just 10,000 won (cash only; bank transfers in advance also welcome). Additional information about the registration process is available online.

Pre-registration for the English Expo, itself, is free for everyone. Onsite registration is free for KOTESOL members and anyone with a free-admission flier, available on the KOTESOL website.

New Online: Job Board


KOTESOL members can now access a new online job board! Currently, only university and educational publishing jobs are included, but there are plans to expand this service if the pilot program is successful.

Inviting All Interested Members: Leadership Retreat


Do you have a project you'd like to see KOTESOL undertake? Want to share your ideas for improving the organization? Interested in learning more about the inner workings of KOTESOL? Or would you just like to get more involved with our national committees? Come to the annual Leadership Retreat!

This year's Leadership Retreat will be held at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul on Sunday, December 14. The meet and greet will begin at 9:30 a.m., with opening remarks at 10 a.m., to be followed by breakout sessions finishing at 5:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. To attend, RSVP by Thursday, December 11, and provide your meal preference. (If you forget to RSVP, please feel free just to come! You won't have a meal choice, but pizza will be provided.)

Okinawa JALT Invites Attendees


Okinawa JALT would like to extend a special invitation to KOTESOL members to attend their December "Trends in Language Teaching" conference. The event will be held December 13 at Okinawa Christian University, and keynote speakers include Andy Boon and David Kluge. For additional information, please visit the Okinawa JALT website.

Call for Papers: National Conference (May) 2015


Korea TESOL invites interested parties to submit a proposal to present at the 2015 National Conference, scheduled to be held at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul on Saturday, May 30, 2015. The theme is "Bridging the Digital Divide: Examining Online Language Teaching in Asia," and the strands include Online Experiences in Language Teaching, ELT 101, and Other ELT Topics. 

The call for papers closes March 1, 2015.

Call for Proposals: International Conference (October) 2015

 
Start thinking now about applying to present at the 2015 International Conference next October! The official call for proposals for is now available online, and submissions will be accepted January 1 through May 31, 2015. 

The next International Conference is scheduled to be held in Seoul on October 10 and 11, 2015. The theme is "Transitions in Education -- Transitions in ELT."

Call for Papers: KOTESOL Proceedings 2014

 
The KOTESOL Publications Committee is now accepting papers for KOTESOL Proceedings 2014. Submissions may be made by presenters at the 2014 KOTESOL - KAFLE International Conference on presentations made at the conference.

The submissions deadline is January 15, 2015. General guidelines and additional information can be found
online.
