Advent Midweek Prayer Service (5:30 – 6:00):    “The Gifts of Advent”

Dec. 3:    The Gift of Patience
Dec. 10:  The Gifts of Speech and Silence
Dec. 17:  The Gift of Hope

Each Wednesday, we gather for a brief Advent evening prayer service from 5:30-6:00 pm. Light Advent Supper of Soup and Salad will be served for ½ hour before and after the service (starting at 5:00 and resuming at 6:00).   Donation of $5.50 to cover costs and support our Living Springs food ministry ($3 for children under 12, chicken fingers available).

Take a break from the hectic holiday pace to find peace in God’s house as we join in prayer and celebrate the call to “prepare the way of the Lord!”  Just stop on the way home.  Invite a friend!

Our Christmas Play this year will be on Sunday, December 14th at 5:00pm, followed by a Spaghetti Dinner and the Elf Store.  We have a very unique Christmas play called, “An Unexpected Christmas” to present to you, so we hope you will feel the Spirit guiding you to participate in it or attend and share in this experience.  This play is presented from God’s viewpoint and will call us all to ponder how God works in this world and in you.

If you are interested in being in the play, we will need several adults, teens, young people, and toddlers.  We will have speaking and non-speaking parts.  Our practice times will be Sundays, Dec 7 and 14 from 930-1030am.  Please contact Leslie Bloss (LBloss3306@hotmail.com) or Lexanne Graves (Lexanne@LivingSpringsColumbia.org) to participate.

The Elf Store is a "store" set up with donated gifts ranging in price from $0.25 to $4.00. This is a special evening where the children get to purchase and wrap gifts to give to others! Come support our youth and enjoy a spaghetti dinner after the program.

Lessons for Sunday, November 30

First Reading: Isaiah 64:1–9

This lament comes from a people who have had their hopes shattered. The visions of a rebuilt Jerusalem and a renewed people of God, spoken of in Isaiah 40—55, have not been realized. Instead, the people experience ruin, conflict, and famine. This lament calls God to account—to be the God who has brought deliverance in the past.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 80:1–7, 17–19

Let your face shine upon us, and we shall be saved. (Ps. 80:7)

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:3–9

As the Christians in Corinth await the advent of Jesus, Paul reminds them how the Lord has already enriched them through spiritual gifts and will continue to strengthen them until the coming day of the Lord.

Gospel: Mark 13:24–37

In today's reading, Jesus encourages his followers to look forward to the day when he returns in power and glory to end all suffering.
