Below is our list of studio requirements that must be met in order to be considered an elevatED Hub .
Spacing: Students at every level should have the space to fully extend and perform big, powerful movements. No pole should be no closer than 6-foot (1.8 meters) to another pole or obstruction.
Height: The minimum height of the poles should be at least 10 feet (3 meters). Measurement is from floor to visible ceiling, not including mounting hardware.
Poles: The poles in your studio should be clean, scratch and corrosion-free, safely mounted, hypoallergenic and properly maintained. Stainless Steel, single piece, pin lock system (static to spin) poles are preferred.
Flooring: We have a wide curricula that includes dance and floor work emphasizing safety. Acceptable studio flooring is hard wood or engineered wood.
Mirrors: The studio should have clean, floor to ceiling mirrors so both the students and teachers can see their alignment. It is important for instructors to utilize the mirror as a tool to monitor the whole classroom.
Lighting: The studio should have lighting that encourages movement and comfort, but is still bright enough for safety. Adjustable lighting is preferred.
Music: The studio should have a quality sound system where the music can be heard at multiple levels.
Basic Equipment & Cleanliness: The studio should have an abundance of mats that are cleaned daily, enough clean towels for each person in each class per day, and plenty of alcohol bottles to clean the poles (preferably in spray bottles) - 60% alcohol content is required to sufficiently disinfect. In addition to clean equipment, the dance spaces, reception, changing rooms, bathrooms and common areas should be clean and inviting.
Performance Enhancing Equipment: An excellent studio will have the following items available to allow for both modifications and advancements so each student is given the tools they need to be successful:
- Yoga Blocks
- Yoga Straps
- Thera-bands
- Foam Rollers
- Knee Pads
Grip Aids: The Studio should have a variety of grip aid products for sale.
Schedule: Each elevatED Hub will become a training destination, providing our participants the opportunity to attend more than one training at a time. For each training the studio must have 23 – 27 hours of available studio time divided amongst three days (includes mid-day break). We recommend a free day in between consecutive trainings.
Example Schedule
- Day 1: 8 hours of Lecture and Training (5 hours for Pole Level 1)
- Day 2: 8 hours of Lecture and Training (1 hour mid-day break)
- Day 3: 8 hours of Lecture and Training (1 hour mid-day break), includes testing
Participants: To hold a training, there must be minimum of 6 participants in the U.S., and 8 outside of the U.S, per training.
