“Nex-Gen” Local Government

County Administrator Mike Merrill presented County Commissioners with what he called a “Nex-Gen” Local Government budget for FY 14 and 15.  The recommended $3.38 billion budget, which Merrill said signals a positive turning point, was delivered at the Board’s Budget Workshop Thursday, June 6th.

The budget provides for additional resources to recruit target industries, to implement economic development areas or job centers, and seed funding for startup ventures.  Funding is also provided for increased animal adoptions, improved/increased building inspections, reduced procurement cycle times, and improved/increased web services.

Merrill said the budget places emphasis on a commitment to building a world-class community that remains a great place to grow a business and a family.
