Letter from the Director
Teachers usually talk about how much they'll miss their students over the summer, but we're lucky here at ILC because not only do we continue to see many of our current students, we meet new "Summer Program" students as well! I think it's great that so many parents are dedicated to helping their children stay productive and challenged during their breaks from school. While parents realize the value, students often wonder why they need to do anything that involves books, pencils, and paper when they're out of school. Once they realize how quickly tutoring sessions fly by and how much time they have left over for fun, they open up to the idea a little more. Within a short period of time, students feel a sense of accomplishment as they gain new skills and their confidence begins to soar. Parents are pleasantly surprised when their children have positive remarks about attending and I know this is due to our expert tutors. Our tutors know how to make learning interesting and fun. They know when a student needs to be challenged and when to offer words of encouragement. Whether your goals are to help your child catch up, stay on track, or get ahead, ILC's Summer Programs can help.

Don't Wait

The Advice of a Certified Teacher
Finally.  It’s the end of May and school is out for the summer.  As a student, you’re exhausted from finals, end of the school year projects, papers, and countless nights of staying up to get those last minute assignments finished.  The grades are in and there is nothing left to do, but relax, forget about school, and just enjoy the summer.  But wait.  Now is not the time to relax.  Now is the time to get ahead and start preparing for next school year.  Now is the time to sign up for summer tutoring at Intellect Learning.

While relaxing and just enjoying the summer—and I’m not saying that students can’t do this—may sound like a great idea now, students will find themselves in the same debacle come next school year.  All-nighters and procrastination will resurface and rear their ugly heads once again.  Headaches and the dread of studying will become commonplace again, as well.  It doesn’t have to be this way, however.  Students who have these problems should commit themselves to summer tutoring.  The time to prevent these usual nightmares is NOW.

Intellect Learning is now offering summer tutoring programs that will address every student’s needs.  The emphasis of summer tutoring is on preparing students for the following school year.  Summer tutoring can be an enriching and rewarding experience. Tutoring in the summers allows students to stay in rhythm, develop new skills, and not lose the skills that they gained from the previous school year.

Intellect Learning provides an opportunity for students to improve upon their deficiencies in math, reading, and writing.  Summer tutoring isn’t just for students who struggled during the past school year, however.  Intellect also offers programs for students who are looking to get ahead of their peers and excel in their upcoming classes.  Finally, Intellect Learning integrates study skills into summer tutoring, as well.  Many students’ greatest challenge isn’t the work itself, but preparing for tests.  Tutors at Intellect work with students to help them study effectively.  The focus is aimed toward quality study sessions, rather than quantity.

Summer tutoring is the perfect way to get ahead, and prevent those ugly heads of procrastination and dreaded exams from resurfacing next school year.  Don’t wait.  Sign up for summer tutoring at Intellect Learning today.

Improve your Memory
Two main components of ILC's Study Skills Program involve organization and attention. We emphasize critical thinking and problem solving abilities. A question that is often asked is whether a student actually understood the material or if they simply memorized it verbatim. Instead of taking an either-or-approach, we view memory as a necessary component of learning and we help students learn how to retain information AND apply it in their daily lives. When a student is able to explain a concept in their own words and make it meaningful, true understanding has taken place.
