Dear Colleagues,
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington is hosting the
“Symposium on Disability, Technology and Rehabilitation in Low and Middle Income Countries” on
27 & 28 June 2013 at the University of Washington. Building off of the 2009 and 2010 workshops on Technology & Disability in the Developing World, the 2013 symposium will expand topic areas to include rehabilitation services.
In collaboration with the University of Washington's International Program on Disability, Technology, and Rehabilitation (IDTR), the
Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) is hosting and managing a live webcast throughout the symposium that offers virtual participation from around the world. The webcast will be delivered via Blackboard Collaborate and will be close captioned.
We invite you to register for the live webcast of the “Symposium on Disability, Technology, and Rehabilitation in Low and Middle Income Countries.”
The Symposium brings together researchers, clinicians, consumers, consumer led organizations, policy makers, technology developers and providers, policy makers, and other relevant stakeholders who focus on improving and increasing access to technology and rehabilitation products and services with the goal of ensuring full inclusion and participation for people with disabilities in low-resourced communities in low and middle income countries. Some topics of focus during the event include assistive technology and accessible information and communication technology; service delivery models; human resource development; and international disability policy.
