Dear <<First Name>>:

Welcome to another edition of the life [simplified] letter.

News

Back in the groove

Well, hello stranger! Yes, I know it has been a while. Four months to be exact. There have been a few changes in my life since I last wrote to you. I recently started a new job. I'm working for the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta to provide administrative support to a new degree program. What appeals to me about the job, is that I have a great deal of flexibility. I can still work at home. I feel like I have the best of both worlds: a regular salary and flexible hours. I'll tell you more about the new role in the weeks to come.

New Job, More Complexity

Learning to focus again on priorities

A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. ~ Alberta Einstein

As many of you know who have been loyal readers, before Christmas, my focus was on simplifying my life. I started this process during a period when I had the luxury of time. I'm still trying to simplify my life, but without the time to ponder how to do it. It took me a long while to find a happy medium between my new work situation and a life [simplified]. It is still a work in progress.

I was in Prince Edward Island for a conference last week. I love the Island for many reasons. One of those reasons is that the people of the island keep things simple. Folks there know exactly what is important to them. They live their lives according to their priorities. Family is always right at the top of the list. So are friends. People come first.

In this new job, I'm starting to find a rhythm that suits me. It has taken me a few months but I understand the scope of the work before me. I'm focusing on my priorities again. People first. Things second (or you could substitute projects, in my case). I'll admit I lost track of those priorities for a while but I'm coming back around.

I'm glad I'm trying something new by accepting this new job. I may be making some mistakes along the way. Perhaps I have complicated my life again, but I can still live by my life [simplified] principles if I focus on my priorities. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Your life [simplified]

Tell me your stories on how you refocus.
