Montessori Moment

Alumni Spotlight:

Erin Peterson

Erin Peterson and her three younger siblings all attended MSBG.  Erin just graduated from Bowling Green High School and plans to attend BGSU this fall and major in special education.

In high school, Erin was an accomplished golfer in addition to her many academic and leadership accomplishments. In 11th grade she received the Coach's Award as well as 3rd team all conference. In 12th grade she received the MVP award and was 2nd team all conference.

Here are her reflections on her experiences at MSBG:

I was very prepared for middle school, especially in the math department. Montessori helped me become very knowledgeable in math.

I feel very prepared for life from Montessori! Montessori has a very different outlook on things than public school does, and that's why I love it. Teachers at Montessori pay attention to you more, helping you in the areas you need help the most. It taught me a lot about independence and finding who I was. It also taught me a lot about resolving conflicts with friends. The peace rose helped many times and taught me to remain calm in situations.

Montessori taught me more about life than junior high and high school combined taught me.  I remember going to Camp Wilson the most. I'll never forget camp. Definitely some of the best days of my life.

Thank you!

All of us at MSBG would like to thank everyone who made this such a great year.

We would especially like to thank our wonderful volunteers. From Alisa Suelzer, who runs our Kroger/GL Scrip programs, to Stephanee Wohler and Beth Jones, our volunteer librarians, to all our readers, coaches, recycling helpers, groundskeepers, event helpers, our amazing PTO, and everyone who helps make our place an exceptional place for children and their families.

Staffing Updates:

A heartfelt farewell to Ruth Carpenter who is retiring from her aftercare position. We are grateful to her talents and time and we know she will stay in touch.

"Miss Mary" Cleland will be working in the elementary staff this fall as a full-time teacher. She holds a her American Montessori Society Lower Elementary teaching credential. Before she stayed home with her own three children, Mary taught for five years in Lower Elementary. Recently, she has worked in the Upper Elementary program as a classroom assistant.

"Miss Susannah" Lock will also be joining the elementary program as a full-time teacher this fall while also continuing her supplemental duties as our beloved elementary music teacher. Susannah holds her MFA, another Masters in Montessori Education, and her American Montessori Internationale teaching credential.

We will keep you posted as more staffing is determined. We are so fortunate to have such great longevity and to add to our amazing staff with exceptionally-qualified people!
