IMPACT 100 Owensboro
reveals $230,000 for 2013!!!

Reveal Reception, May 2nd  ~  Sponsored by First Security Bank

Letter from the President ~ Joy Allen

Every now and then it is so very important to push pause, to put away every thing and every thought that occupies our time, and to step back, even if only for a moment, in order to gain perspective, and then to celebrate the many beautiful things that we have had the privilege of being a part of. It is a way of giving thanks. Nothing gladdens my heart more.

Today is one of those days for me. And, to tell the whole truth, my heart is full to overflowing, so much so that is difficult to find words adequate to the task of celebrating something of this magnitude. I am elated, and I know you are, too.

Having officially begun our eighth year of service within our community, IMPACT 100 Owensboro has so much to celebrate and so much for which to give thanks.

On May 2, we revealed our second highest membership tally in our organization’s history. Special thanks to First Security Bank for their impeccable hospitality! Because of the faithful efforts of so many of you to spread the word about IMPACT’s mission in the greater Owensboro area and to invite other women to become a part of this incredible work, we proudly boast more than 250 members this year, yielding a total of $230,000 of grant monies to be awarded to this year’s finalists. By October, IMPACT 100 Owensboro will have given $1,692,000 to many of our community’s non-profit agencies. Can you believe it? In just 8 years, we’re nearing the $2 million mark!

It is because of that that my heart is so full! Thank you for opening your lives to this unimaginably important organization. Thank you for inviting new members to join us in it.  Just last week, we hosted a reception to welcome our nearly 60 new members! Imagine what we will be able to do as our membership numbers increase! And, of course, the need in our community will continue to increase, too. So, now is the time! Now is the time to push pause, to step away, to celebrate, and to say thanks. Now is the time for us – the women of this beautiful city which we call home - to join together and to dare to dream a dream for a healthier, safer, and more just community. Now is the time.

Pat Jones  - Focus Groups Members Are Needed
You’ve committed your $1000 as a member of Impact 100, now is the opportunity to be part of a Focus Group that will select the 5 finalists to whom that money will be awarded.   As a Focus Group member you will have a level of involvement that is very hands-on as you study, question, and visit the grant applicants before reaching a decision on a finalist for your focus area.  An added bonus to membership in a focus group is that you learn more about non-profit organizations in the Owensboro community and their needs and their services.
Focus Groups meet at a time and location convenient to the members.  The number of meetings needed is dependent on the number of grant applicants in a focus area.  The finalist from each focus area must be selected by August 9th.
All members are encouraged to be a part of one of these 5 committees.  Contact Grant Chair Pat Jones at 926-4980 for more information or e-mail board@impact100Owensboro.org to get connected to a group that is convenient to your time or appeals to your interests.
