Hunger for the gospel of Luke
Dear <<First Name>>,
Thanks for praying for my travel and the safe arrival of the Nzanyi team. They arrived bursting with stories of what has happened since we finished Luke and the Jesus Film script last fall!
Emmanuel distributed copies of Luke to the five churches in his sub-zone. They are liturgical and are all using Luke in Nzanyi whenever their Gospel readings fall in Luke. Not satisfied with that, they are now requiring Emmanuel to draft whatever Scriptures they are going to read the next Sunday. Since he can't be in all of the churches he is making use of the the voice-actors from the JESUS Film to do the readings, and is now training other readers.
Four churches in Joseph's area are using Luke. He loaned his copy of Luke to some young people in his own church in the Pakka area, and they passed it from person to person, teaching each other how to read it. His copy is now all dirty and dog-eared. I asked him how many people have read it and he put his hands to his face and said "Aiii! They couldn't be counted." He says many of the people who have read it are not Christians and they want to know when it will be published so they can buy their own copy.
When the churches in Mubi-South received their copy of Luke, they accepted it with rejoicing and people took turns practicing reading it. Those that did the best were sent to be voice-actors for the JESUS Film.
There is so much more to tell, so watch for more updates. The work is going extremely well and our spirits are high. I thought you'd like to know how your translation into Nzanyi is changing lives.
In Christ,
John
