Our 2013 fundraising season for the Team Tanzania Scholar Award has arrived!
Team Tanzania Scholar Award is an initiative by Tanzanians in the United States to contribute to better health care for Tanzanians. Since, the $500 award has been given annually to the top first, second, third and fifth year medical students at Weill Bugando University College of Health Sciences in Mwanza and, starting in 2012, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College (KCMC) in Moshi. In 2013, we plan to expand further to Herbert Kairuki Memorial Medical College in Dar-es-Salaam.
We are proud that the award is inspiring recipients, such as 4th year KCMC awardee Rashid Ally, to “pay it forward”,
…I have decided to put this award money to good use by giving back to my community. …My fellow classmates and I founded a charity group called shine a light in 2010.Every year we raise money to sponsor street children for primary school education at the Msamaria center in Moshi .I have decided to use my prize money to sponsor the children for the year 2013.
Team Tanzania Scholar Award is only possible thanks to your generous donations. In 2013 we are committed to raising $6,000 to continue the awards.
