Trying during our last
"tri"
Here in language school, where the instruction is organized into three four-month sessions called trimesters, everyone asks you, "What tri are you in?" We are in the third tri! "If at first you don't succeed, tri, tri again" has surely been mentioned a million times in the history of the school.
We are still trying... trying to fulfill the Lord's purposes in bringing us here, trying to learn Spanish, trying to enjoy all that Costa Rica has to offer, trying to be faithful blessings to our friends here, trying to educate our kids, trying to communicate with our friends and family back home, trying to just do daily things like get the trash out before the crazy trash guys come at 6:40 a.m., trying to feed our family and clean up afterwards, trying to be patient when life requires it, trying to be thankful, trying to love one another well.
Will is making enormous progress in Spanish and has really upped the intensity level with a translation class and a speaking/ listening route he takes twice a week. I, Allison, am learning so much while homeschooling the boys, especially about our character. Annie will be out of school next week and will join in the homeschooling bunch. Sarah will stay in her 1/2 day school to get more Spanish exposure.
We are really looking forward to coming home for a bit this August and even more, to moving to Peru. We are always speculating about life in Curahuasi, about what school, work, home, and church will be like. We can't wait to get there and find out. Thanks to all of you who are helping us go be a part of this great adventure ahead of us. Thanks for trying with us. May God reward you for your prayers, energy, and giving. We appreciate you.

What have you been learning lately? history, especially Egyptians; Spanish, animals vocabulary
Tell us about one of your friends. Nate is nice, he’s funny, he’s seen a lot of movies. We get to see each other a lot because he lives two doors down from me, but unfortunately, he’s going to the States this summer.
What is something you’re looking forward to doing in the States this summer? Going to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Hot Tamales, Chuy’s, and seeing my friends.
What is something you will miss about Costa Rica? Nate and Lincoln Plaza (a mall here) and Pops (ice cream shop)
Annie
What have you been learning lately? Reading Jack and Annie chapter books—two and a half of them. (Magic Tree House books)
Tell us about one of your friends. Katie came over for a sleepover. She is my friend. She has glasses and she likes to play with me.
What is something you’re looking forward to doing in the States this summer? Be with my family and eat at Chuy’s.
What is something you will miss about Costa Rica? My friends, except for Katie because she’s going to go to Peru.

What have you been learning lately? History, BSF, homeschooling
Tell us about one of your friends. Aiden is nice, he likes to run around, he was in my class at Sojourn.
What is something you’re looking forward to doing in the States this summer? Going to the amusement parks and seeing my friends.
What is something you will miss about Costa Rica? The waterfalls… basically, the sights.

What have you been learning lately? Math, like “What’s one plus one?”; coloring and stuff, reading
Tell us about one of your friends. Lucy likes horses and she’s nice and she plays with me.
What is something you’re looking forward to doing in the States this summer? Going to the mall and play with Legos.

We love visitors!
The pictures at the top of the newsletter were taken while my dad, Will's brother Sam, my brother Talmadge, his wife Jenna, and "the cousins" Olivia and Augustus came to visit in May. What a wonderful time to be able to reconnect with them and show them some of the beauty of Costa Rica (as well as some things like no water and expensive groceries!). Thanks be to God that we have had visitors a few times already. Some of our dear friends from Corpus Christi, the Motsingers, are coming in July. Hooray! It's not too late to book a trip to this amazing country. It is an easy four-hour flight from Dallas.
