In 2008, American TESOL Institute was established in the Philippines primarily to cater to English proficiency programs of Korean nationals. In 2011, ATI Philippines made substantial changes that included the acquisition of the company by a new group of Filipino businessmen headed by its president, Mr. Eugene C. Go. Henceforth, ATI has expanded from an English language proficiency training center for foreigners, to become a training center also for Filipinos. In 2012, at the initiative of its new Executive Director Ms. Tina Dela Pena, and to further strengthen its presence in the Philippines, ATI incorporated a training program for call centers and business process outsourcing, addressing the trends and demands of the said industries.
