One of the RSCN Sponsorship Menu projects that you can support:
Study of the Shaumari Animals and Plants (2,500 JOD)
The Shaumari Wildlife Reserve was the first nature reserve to be established in Jordan. It had the first re-introduction and breeding program to restore the locally extinct species of Oryx, as well as other endangered species.
The information about this area’s fauna and flora (animals and plants) is relatively old, thus needs to be updated to current findings. The RSCN is planning to conduct an assessment of fauna and flora in Shaumari, which includes field work, equipment use, and reporting. When accomplished, this survey will enhance the knowledge we hold about the Shaumari Reserve and assist in improving its sustainable management.
