We've Just Had The Longest Day But Will It Be The Longest Summer Of Transfer Nonsense?
So far this summer the big Newcastle United conversation points have been Joe Kinnear coming in, Derek Llambias bailing out and fans left wondering/worrying just what the ‘plan’ is to take Newcastle forward again this coming season.
You know things aren’t great when the new fixtures come out and it hardly raises an eyebrow, while any anticipation of which exciting new players will be coming in is muted to say the least.
We have posed the question on the website ‘Newcastle United – Is There Anybody There?' as with now even Derek Llambias saying enough is enough, the worry must be exactly who, if anybody, is still there to try and stop NUFC drifting onto the rocks. Newcastle United now have only two people on the club board, John Irving and Lee Charnley, who also double up as Finance Director and Club Secretary in their day jobs at St.James’ Park. This is not normal, any club of substance usually has a strong board to guide the direction and focus, working alongside/above a strong management team who put the Board’s plan/strategy into action.
As always we know that with very little effort/care/attention, Newcastle United could be a massive success, we have a horrible feeling though that Mike Ashley may not even replace Derek Llambias, how mad would that be?
