On Essex Mums this month
It's looking summery out there and rightly so as the summer holidays are just around the corner. As many of you will be thinking of ways to keep the kids happy over the coming six week break, I will be using the next two newsletters to focus on fun things to do! There's also lots of news this month, but August's will be devoted almost entirely to all the amazing things that are on.

Please feel free to use the buttons below to add your own event, business etc:

At the day camps children can try new activities, make new friends and most of all have lots of fun! They've got your holiday childcare covered - summer activity holidays that are Ofsted registered, giving parents peace of mind, whilst ensuring maximum FUN for kids!

Summer Holidays Events
Just a few more weeks until those long summer holidays - have you worked out how you are going to keep the kids entertained? We're working hard to get all the fantastic things going on across Essex added to the Things to Do section and want to keep Essex Mums the best resource for parents in Essex there is. Keep checking back as new events are added to this section all the time: everything from school fetes to summer holiday clubs, and events for all ages. There is so much to do, so try searching by area, or asking in the forum for some ideas if you're not sure what to do with your little (or big) ones. If you are an event organiser and haven't sent over your summer holiday events, please do send them to louise@essexmums.org, or click the button at the top of the newsletter to add the event yourself.

Summer Holidays Planner
Keep track of all the fun things you have planned with our handy Summer Holidays Planner. Make time for days out, meeting friends, family time, games and play, rest times, meals in and out as well as all those boring chores that unfortunately still need to be done. If you want some ideas for places to eat out, try theFamily-Friendly Eats section, and be sure to review places you've been yourself!

Summer Holidays Meet Ups
Would you like to meet up with other mums this summer? It's a great way of entertaining the kids and having a nice time yourself too. If the sun is shining, why not organise a picnic in the park, visit to a country park or walk in the woods? Come and suggest something fun in the Meet-Ups section of the forum, and if you want to suggest an event, I can add it to the Facebook Group too, to spread the word. You're bound to find someone local who is also at a loose end. Keep an eye out on this section for events organised by others too and don't be afraid to join in!

Free Events for Families - Can you Help?
In a similar vein, I was thinking it would be fun to organise a few events over the summer that have a bit more going on. I've been speaking to the lovely Zoe from fitbugs about getting together to do some sporty picnics in the Southend area and was wondering if there is anyone else out there who would be interested in getting together to host some events elsewhere - whether it's sporty, crafty, storytelling or something completely different, I'm open to ideas. I would like these to be free events for families so I'm thinking parks would be ideal. So if you're happy to spare a bit of time to do something fun for families, get in touch! Likewise, I'd welcome any feedback from parents about what sort of events they might like to go to.

Places to Go
If you're looking for some ideas for a great day out, try our Places to Go section, which has ideas for all sorts of days out: castles, play centresparkswildlife and much more! This section is still a work in progress, with new places being added all the time. Make sure you come back and comment about your day afterwards so that others can hear what a lovely time you had!

NEW: Baby Names Section
As a bit of a 'name nerd' myself, I've been meaning to add a baby names section to the website for years and am happy to say I have finally got round to it! You can find the section in the Pregnancy and Parenting section, or by clicking here. Please come, take a look around, vote on names and pass on any feedback you have. I plan to add some lists related to names, such as top 20s, names that are linked together for some reason etc. but welcome any ideas about how this section could be improved!

Feedback Wanted: Events Listings
I'm looking for some feedback about how the events are presented in the newsletters. Do you like how they are done now with a list of some of the events each area has to offer, or would you prefer a few selected events with more information about each?
