Dear Members and Friends:

Happy Independence Day! Is there a better city in which to celebrate July 4th than Philadelphia?  At Global Philadelphia Association, we know that nowhere else comes close to PHL, the place where our nation was born.

This latest newsletter is an overview meant to inform you, with tremendous enthusiasm, that we are steadily progressing toward GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013, and many exciting, global events will be underway before we know it.  Over 55 events spanning 7 categories are confirmed thus far. From September 15th to November 1st,  GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 attendees will experience events in Arts, Advocacy, Commerce, Cuisine, Education, Heritage, and Sports. This impressive array of activities and events courtesy of GPA members will undoubtedly cater to all sorts of global interests.

On June 5th, we celebrated the launch of GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 with our Preview Party at the Top of the Tower, located in 1717 Arch Street.  It was a memorable evening of networking among many leaders in the Philadelphia region's global sphere.  In addition to conversations and introductions were three "pop-up" events from our members the Philadelphia Zoo, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture and Free Tours By Foot.   Our members and sponsors also got to pose for photos on the GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 red carpet, with a prop to hold that branded them as a "Global Philadelphian."

You can view more of the photos from the Preview Party on our GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 Facebook page and like, share, and tag yourself!  We are very excited about moving forward from the Preview Party, with the exposition just two months away.  If you are planning an event that you want to be a part of the exposition, please get in touch with GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 Coordinator, Asmaa Lahlou at asmaa.lahlou@globalphiladelphia.org.

How we're preparing for GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013:

In order to navigate the numerous GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 events, a "passport" is being developed to help you find the ones that interest you–and encourage you to discover new ways of experiencing our global city. The purpose of the passport is to prompt citizens of the Philadelphia region to take advantage of the many events being presented by the exposition, and thereby become more widely exposed to International resources, activities, and communities that Philadelphia has to offer.  It will act as a guide to GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 events, members, and sponsors, offering incentives for attendance, including a scavenger hunt, to encourage broad participation in the exposition's diverse offerings.

We have also developed a Tool Kit for our members and partners to help promote GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013. The Tool Kit  can be found on the GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013 section of our website.  The Tool Kit explains how our members can help spread the word about the exposition through various media strategies.  It can assist members to cohesively market their respective events on GPA's social media platforms, and even provides sample messages, logos, links to our social media pages, and a brief explanation of what the exposition is all about. This will definitely be useful to you in the coming months as you prepare for your events for GlobalPhillyâ„¢ 2013.
