Employees Recognition Dinner

Each year, SWU employees gather together to start off the new academic year, celebrate colleagues who have reached years of service milestones and welcome new faculty and staff. This year’s dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 13, and will be held in The Founders (University Dining Commons). Seating begins at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner buffet starting at 6 p.m. This year, we’ll be having a “Duck Dynasty”-inspired theme, so we’re encouraging guests to incorporate some camouflage into what they wear for this event. For those of you not familiar with the Duck Dynasty phenomenon, you can find inspiration at aetv.com/duck-dynasty or duckcommander.com. Mark your calendars for August 13 and start shopping this weekend for something “camo.” More details about this event will be shared over the next few weeks.

Williams writes review

Charles Williams, business professor at SWU’s Charleston education center, wrote a book review for “Discovering Biblical Equality: Complementarity without Hierarchy,” edited by Ronald W. Pierce. The review will be published in a special edition of the Journal of Biblical Integration in Business coming out this fall. The issue will deal with gender, business and scripture. Williams also attended a four-day conference last month in Grand Rapids, Mich., sponsored by the Acton Institute. Acton Institute is a think tank focused on integrating Judeo-Christian truths with free market principles.
