right2move - Young people show what European mobility means to them
Szilvia Gergulics from Hungary, Maria Eloisa de Sola Sienes from Spain and Konstantinos Pappas from Greece were the winners of Eurodesk's right2move poster competition and won a trip to Brussels. Maria, for example, had participated in youth exchanges and the European Voluntary Service and explained the inspiration for her poster 'People: The best part of Europe': "The best part of all my experiences was and is the people I have met. All of them taught me something and if one of them had not been there, it had not been the same thing. I've gained knowledge, I've grown up, I'm becoming a better and open minded person, all of that was possible because of all those exceptional people."
Via Eurodesk's Facebook page, young Europeans between 18 and 30 years old were invited to express their answers to the question " How has the right2move shaped your feelings as European citizen?" in a poster format. Between March and April 2013, entries were submitted from youngsters all-around Europe. All fans of our page could then vote their Top10 posters. View all entries here.
A jury of European Youth Forum, European Youth Press and Eurodesk selected the three overall winners from the public's Top10. The winners, Maria, Szilvia and Konstantinos, were invited to join us during European Youth Week in Brussels, where they not only had to chance to show their talent to the public at the YO!Fest, but also met Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou during a VIP Reception with Members of the European Parliament and the European Youth Forum on 31 May 2013.
Eurodesk has launched the right2move initiative as contribution to the European Year of Citizens 2013. During this year, we implement a number of activities to further raise the awareness among young people of their rights as European citizens, in particular the right to free movement and opportunities to exercise this right.

YO!Fest
On 30-31 May 2013, Eurodesk Brussels Link and Eurodesk multipliers from Debrecen in Hungary, Santander in Spain and Eskisehir in Turkey presented a number of activities at the European Youth Forum's YO! Fest on the Esplanade of the European Parliament.
Visitors could learn more about mobility opportunities, take the right2move quiz, create their own electronic tune and get through the passport control with their right2move picture. The Top10 posters from the right2move poster competition were also presented.

New EYP
The new European Youth Portal was launched for European Youth Week 2013. Powered by the Eurodesk network, the new portal offers multilingual information about European opportunities for young people, covering the eight fields of action of the EU Youth Strategy.
One of the first launching events, was a presentation by Eurodesk Ireland to 300 youngsters during YouthDay 2013 in Dublin's Croke Park.
Content and functionality of the new Portal will be constantly upgraded and visitors are asked to help improve the Portal by taking the user survey.

European Youth Week 2013
From 26 May to 2 June 2013, hundreds of events took place across Europe for the 6th edition of European Youth Week. Eurodesk partners and their networks of multipliers contributed with diverse activities around the themes of active citizenship and the 25th anniversary of EU youth programmes, at national, regional and local levels.
The Eurodesk Network also worked with National Youth Week Coordinators to ensure the Youth Week was well captured in social media. See a recap of all the activities by looking up the hashtag #youthweek and on the European Youth Portal.

TECY Workshop

The event "Social Media, Apps & Learning: Just fun & games?" was organised by the Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission and DIGITAL EUROPE as the first of the TECY (Technology, Education, Culture and Youth) workshop series. Hosted by Eurodesk Brussels Link (EBL), the event brought together technology companies, publishers, employers, NGOs, policy-makers and young people. An accompanying webinar organized by EBL allowed remote participants to engage in the discussion.

Eurodesk partners' study visit
Eurodesk partners and multipliers regularly exchange experience and good practice. Since Eurodesk Turkey is a young and fast-growing network, our Turkish colleagues sought a more in-depth look into practices across the network. From 3 to 5 July 2013, the Turkish national coordinator and six multipliers embarked on a study visit to Eurodesk Germany, where they learnt about the various Eurodesk information activities in the country and visited two regional Eurodesk partners in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Eurodesk Awards 2013
For the third time, Eurodesk is looking to award best practice in informing about European opportunities for young people - the "Champions of European Youth Information". All Eurodesk local and regional multipliers are invited to submit their projects. The most outstanding initiatives will receive their awards in a ceremony on 17 September 2013 in Brussels.
