BRAMFORD COMMUNITY GARDEN

Sunny Sunday In The Garden

5th July 2013

Greetings gardeners,

Hope this finds you well and happy at the prospect of a scorcher of a weekend.

It's been another busy week at Bramford as Monday saw us welcome a new group of volunteers in the form of Wandsworth Girl Guides.

The garden was a hive of activity as the girls accomplished painting of the compost bin, mowing, weeding, drawing and learned ways of identifying and using some of our resident plants. They even found time to take some cracking pictures to kick off our new photo competition (see top of page right for details).

With the fine forecast in mind we'll be making an EARLIER START IN THE GARDEN THIS SUNDAY. COME AND JOIN US FROM 10AM - 2PM.

So, 'what's left to do?' I hear you cry! Well, as ever the gardeners work is never done and top of the tasks will be:

1. Weeding (the back bed along embankment wall)
2. Composting ( including removing woody plants and turning the new pile)
3. Edging (around grass paths)
4. Staking and tying (trees, leggy shrubs and sweet peas)
5. Harvesting (herbs - some of which are growing prodigiously)
6. Watering (either early in the morning or in the evening)
7. Preening (with the iminent RHS 'Its Your Neighbourhood' judging in mind)

Searching for more gardening tips in July?...forage no further than the Garden Organic Website - a great resource for whatever you like to grow.

On that note I wish you all a sun-filled Saturday & Sunday and sincerely hope to see you soon at Bramford.
