Current Activities

Bill Crumbleholme and Mark Vyvyan-Penney are now appearing at the Upwey Old School until 11th August, displaying their work, with Mark's family's. They are also running taster workshops exploring the ancient technologies they have been researching over the last few years. If you would like to come along and try bronze metal casting or urn making please pop into the hall or ring 01305 815216.

Creative Workshops

Artseeker will be promoting more creative workshops in Upwey which will start again in the autumn. 
There will also be a collection of workshops being run in the few months by the Ancient Wessex Network, which will explore a variety of ancient technologies and skills. Those include a long weekend from 6th to 8th September at the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne, where attenders can try several different technologies and get to sleep in the Viking Longhouse. Wood Fired Ceramics

Bill Crumbleholme is firing his wood fueled kiln again next week, this time with vessels commisioned for the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre project, see this webpage for a taste of the kiln. There will be more firings in the autumn, which will be opportunities for people to fire their own wares alongside Bill's, such as might be produced at the pottery workshops. Pottery Classes

Throwing handsThere is currently a waiting list for spaces on Bill Crumbleholme's pottery classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Tuesday afternoons at the Upwey Village Hall. Bill is working through the list, if you have not hear directly from him recently and want to be on the waiting list please contact him.

Lizzie's Sandwihc Bar Artwork

Lizzie's Sandwich Bar

Artseeker workshop fans who have enjoyed the lunches may be interested to learn that the caterers, Lizzie and Diane Crumbleholme are now managing a sandwich bar in Dorchester, just down the side street from Herrings and the Tutankhamun Exhibition. They open weekdays from 8am to 2.30pm and would be pleased to see you!

Exhibitions later in 2013

There are several exhibitions coming up at the Upwey Old School Village Hall later this summer.

Later in August Justin and Nicola Cooke and then Maggie and Fil Cooke are staging their summer shows.

Di Pattinson, Upwey's feltmaker, will be displaying at the Hall from 5th to 8th September. Visit her new website

The Dorset Pottery Group annual exhibition will return to Bridport Arts Centre in early December, featuring work by local potters - see the group website.


Artseeker Clients

Artseeker is helping several client organisations in 2013, here are a few of the things they are getting up to.

Artwey Logo
Artwey is a Community Interest Company managed by Artists in Weymouth and Portland, their core activity is running an Open Studio event, which was staged from in May and June 2013.
Visit the Artwey website to see their plans and view the website which is maintained by Artseeker. Several Artwey members offer tuition and run workshops throughout the year in the Weymouth area.

Ancient Wessex Network Logo
The Ancient Wessex Network is a group of creative people who work in the "Heritage Industry". They undertake experimental archaeology, researching ancient technologies and staging events where they demonstrate those methods and also sell their wares. They also run workshops and other opportunities for the public to try some of the skills  Visit the website at this link.
