Humidity Causes Great Garden Growth
21st June 2013
Afternoon all,
Hope you're making the most of the longest day of the year. Mid summer at Bramford has coincided with some humid growing weather over the past week.
On Wednesday evening Jon and Nicole got to grips with the overgrowing undergrowth at the homebase end of the site while Jess, Ollie and Miranda addressed the raised beds and herb circle. The towering horseradish, mint and chard were cut back to size. Coriander, marigold and nasturtium beds were meticulously weeded and new basil seedlings were also planted.
We'll be back in the garden this SUNDAY 12 - 2pm should you feel like joining us. The weekly task list includes:
- Turning the compost
- Trimming edges to garden paths
- Hoeing borders to keep weeds at bay.
- Watering where required
- Harvesting herbs
- Managing the nettles
- Stake tall plants
- Prune Spring flowering shrubs
Elsewhere for gardeners...plenty more summer suggestions at The RHS calendar for June and Gardeners World diary for the coming week. If you're seeking herb-specific advice don't forget the mine of information at Garden Organic
Hope to see you on Sunday or next Wednesday at the garden.
Ollie
