50+ Example Sports Funding Bids

Funding 4 Sport has spent the last few weeks updating the website with example sports funding bids. The website now has over 50+ example sports funding bids many of which have been submitted and been successful, with the remainder example bids that have been produced specifically for the website but not submitted.

These bids include; Small England Small Grants, Inspired Facilities, Awards for All, Sportivate, Community Games, Football Foundation bids, Lord Taverners, People’s Postcode Lottery and more. We will also be adding more to the website over the next couple of months.

Funding Streams

Premier League Community Facility Fund (PLCFF)

The Premier League (PL) has committed £18 million over the next three years towards the creation of a new Premier League Community Facility Fund (PLCFF). The fund will be accessed by professional clubs through their community organisations to provide facilities which will serve to increase sports participation and physical activity in deprived, inner city areas.

Grants of between £20,000 and £350,000 are available through four strands. These are:
  • Community Cohesion
  • Education
  • Health
  • Sports Participation

English Lacrosse Minor Grant Applications 2013-14

English Lacrosse has re-developed the focus of the minor grants programme to match the Strategic priorities of English Lacrosse for the 2013-2017 Whole Sport Plan.

Awards can range between £500-£2000

Applications should be submitted by 5th July 2013.

ROYAL YACHTING ASSOCIATION (RYA) GRANTS

RYA Sailability seeks to promote sailing by disabled people by encouraging organisations to provide facilities, training, and programmes that increase participation in sailing. Grants are available to assist in developing the participation of disabled people in sailing and are provided under the following headings:

1. Volunteer recruitment
2. Training
3. Provision for disabled children and young people
4. Equipment provision
5. Grants for minor activities (Small Grants Programme).

HILDEN CHARITABLE FUND

The Hilden Charitable Fund has announced that the next deadline for submitting applications is the 13th September 2013. Within the UK, the Hilden Charitable Fund makes grants to projects that address disadvantages, notably by supporting causes which are less popular.

SKIPTON BUILDING SOCIETY- COMMUNITY GIVING PROGRAMME (UK)

To celebrate its 160’s Birthday, the Skipton Building Society has launched a new community funding programme, Grassroots Giving.

As part of Grassroots Giving, the Skipton Building Society have 160 donations of £500 to allocate to community groups across the country. The idea behind our Grassroots Giving campaign is to help community organisations, or groups, who only have access to limited.

The Mars Refuel Drink Fund is giving away four awards of £300 every week until Sunday 6th October 2013.
On top of this, every week there will be a People’s Choice Award for the entry with the most votes.

BBC Children in Need Open to Applications

BBC Children in Need Open to Applications - Funding is available to not-for-profit organisations in the UK that are supporting children and young people of 18 years and under who are experiencing disadvantage through:
  • Illness, distress, abuse or neglect
  • Any kind of disability
  • Behavioural or psychological difficulties
  • Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

David Cameron announces £250m for local community investment

British Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that local communities will be given £250m in funding to help them buy a variety of amenities including village greens, playing fields and pubs.

Athlete grant programme to lose funding from September 2014

A successful programme that supports talented British athletes in further or higher education has lost its funding beyond September 2014.

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme  (Tass) has awarded £30m in grants and helped numerous future Olympic and world champions.

Team GB’s medallists at London 2012 included 44 Tass funding beneficiaries.

Para-equestrian’s Natasha Baker, rower Helen Glover and long jumper Greg Rutherford all received Tass grants.

A Tass award can be worth up to £3,500.

The vast majority of the scheme’s £2.5m annual budget currently comes from UK Sport,  the agency that distributes lottery funding to elite athletes, but it has decided to withdraw its money.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS — PREPARATORY ACTION ‘EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIP ON SPORTS’

The European Commission has issued a new call for proposals to implement the preparatory action ‘European Partnership on Sports’.

This call for proposals will support transnational projects put forward by public bodies or not-for-profit organisations in order to identify and test suitable networks and good practices in the field of sport.

Call for government to act to reduce teenage girls’ dropout rate

Campaigners have called on the government to do more to reduce the “gender gap” between boys and girls when it comes to taking exercise, voicing fears that the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics will be squandered if schools continue to prioritise competition over health.

UK Sport announces it will not redirect boxing funding

UK Sport, the government agency that funds elite sport, has backed down on its threat to redirect boxing’s £13.8m Olympic funding away from the British Amateur Boxing Association (BABA).
