Stories That No Other Theatre Tells You
Grandma Sahana had a story to tell that would reveal a 100 year old secret suppressed by history. Sahana would have died without telling her tale. Floyd had his daughter, Christine, taken away from his home in a First Nation reserve. He would have gone on searching for Christine without anyone ever knowing what had happened to her. Teesri Duniya Theatre could not let that happen.
We brought you State of Denial, a story about Sahana who, while telling us how she survived the Armenian genocide of 1925, reveals the story of Odette, who survived the Rwandan genocide of 1985.  With State of Denial, by Rahul Varma, we introduced director Deborah Forde to Montreal audiences, who directed a multi-ethnic cast featuring some of the finest actors: Davide Chiazzese, Rachelle Glait, Matthew Kabwe, Helen Koya, Olivier Lamarche and Natalie Tannous.
Floyd and Christine’s story was told through Where the Blood Mixes by the Governor General Award-winning playwright Kevin Loring. It was directed by Lib Spry and featured Alarey Alsip, Charles Bender, Eric Hausknost, Jeremy Proulx and Emilee Veluz. The music was by Dumisizwe Vuyo Bhembe.
Both State of Denial and Where the Blood Mixes are fictional plays telling real stories of real people who live amongst us.
Multicultural Montreal’s First Nation and Anglo-French communities showed up in large numbers. We invite you to join us in celebrating our upcoming plays. We want your participation. This season we will bring you Letters to my Grandma by Governor General nominated playwright Anusree Roy, directed by Lib Spry. We will also be performing Bhopal by Rahul Varma, directed by Arianna Bardesono and Liz Valdez. Do you know anyone who would like to see plays that are diverse, entertaining and engaging at the same time? Spread the word.

Mentoring Diversity
In collaboration with The Other Theatre, three emerging artists will undergo a directing mentorship this summer, led by Stacey Christodoulou. After 14 intensive workshops and 52 hours of training, mentees Julia Ainsworth, Davide Chiazzese and Deborah Forde will go into the rehearsal process with a full production team and team of actors. Part of Teesri Duniya's commitment is to develop the skills of the artists they work with, and they are very excited to participate in this pilot project. Stay tuned for more inform
