FLYBABBLE
Carlo did such a good job coaching pilots to thermal at Bo Peep that he spent the day on the ground, looking up while Alex, Ked and Juergen whooped with joy from the sky above! Nicky came for a refresher day, working on launches, toplandings and building confidence.
Jane enjoyed a 'classic' tandem from 1000ft before Greg and Nancy were able to escape the demands of the school and do some XC.
^ Nancy works the Mistral 7 up to base before going XC
Nancy passed Firle then Caburn and almost reached Ditchling. Greg managed to fly on to Truleigh, and part way back toward Newhaven. When the sky gets good in Sussex, it's really good!
On another day, Gavin got some intensive training on the tandem after it became too strong. This is a common problem at Caburn in summer because the heating inland creates a stronger seabreeze.
We also flew our students Slawek, Nick and Karen on the tandem because the wind was trying to remove the grass from the top of Bo Peep. It happens when there is a high pressure and the isobars line up with the English Channel, accelerating the wind.
Foot or Flybubble
^ Starting at the Dyke at dawn, finishing at dusk ... the ultimate goal.
Ed Bewley gave it stick this month, and closed the route over two days. Cap'n Crab chipped away at the legs knees and ankles, Vincent 'Bad Boy' Talleu leapt through the backcountry, and James Hope-Lang raised the bar by running until 8.04pm to close it in a day!
