Artificial human ear grown in lab

US scientists say they have moved a step closer to being able to grow a complete human ear from a patient's cells. In a new development in tissue engineering, they have grown a human-like ear from animal tissue. Read more 

For the second time, the French Conseil d’Etat rules that France’s ban on growing MON810 maize is illegal
The highest court in France, the Council of State (Conseil d’Etat), ruled that the French government’s ban on MON810 cultivation is illegal. The ban was challenged by the French seed association (UFS), the seed production association (FNPSMS), the National corn growers association (AGPM). The Court confirmed that a ban can only be invoked when there is a clear and serious risk to human and animal health or the environment – which is not the case here. . Read more


Biofuels Barometer shows increasing biofuels growth
In Belgium, EurObserver’s new Biofuels Barometer report shows that biofuel consumption growth was firm in the European Union, rising to almost 14.4 million toe in 2012, i.e. a year-on-year increase of 0.4 million toe. However the previous years’ weaker growth trend is confirmed with growth at just 2.9% between 2011 and 2012. Read more

ChileBio published a listing of scientific papers which have evaluated the safety of foods derived from GM crops.  Analysis of the published articles  represent evidence that the global scientific community can use to support that foods derived from GM crops are safe to human and animal consumption.
