ACEOs
I've been making miniature paintings called Art Cards, or ACEOs (for Art Cards, Editions and Originals). They can be in any medium, of any subject, the only requirement being that they must measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches to qualify as an ACEO. I'm doing originals only, in acrylic or oil. Some are miniature versions of earlier work and in other cases the art card comes first and I make a larger version of it later. They make great gifts and can look good in a large frame.
The one on the left is White Flowers, oil on card 2.5 x 3.5 (this has been sold), and the one on the right is Cascade, Afternoon, oil on card, 2.5 x 3.5. Some of my ACEOs can be seen on eBay at http://myworld.ebay.com/folio3/

Finally, some links . . .
A major find this past week has been Quora.com -- it's a question and answer site unlike any other I've seen before. I found some interesting and accessible replies to philosophy/art questions.
The Public Library of Science (PLOS) is a non-profit organisation that believes in free access to scientific information. It publishes a number of peer-reviewed open-access journals. All the content is not only free to read but is also free to use (Creative Commons licenses). I've found things on it that have helped my plant life project along.
