The huldufolk are Icelandic hidden people from huldu, pertaining to secrecy, and folk, people, are one of the 13 types of elves in Iceland. Although there is not a common origin on their true nature or shape, it is broadly accepted that these beings live in the underworld and keep a close relation with natural elements.

Welcome July 2013 and the two year anniversary for the Ellefolk Quarterly. This is also the time for Lammas in the Northern Hemisphere. At Lammas, also called Lughnasadh, the hot days of August are here, much of the earth is dry and parched, but we still know that the bright reds and yellows of the harvest season are just around the corner. Apples are beginning to ripen in the trees, summer vegetables have been picked, corn is tall and green, waiting for us to come gather the bounty of the crop fields. Now is the time to begin reaping what we have sown, and gathering up the first harvests of grain, wheat, oats, and more.

Over the last three months, Under The Root seems to have been undercover. I was working on the aw2013 collection, preparing for swimwear shows, and sending out works to magazines. (yep, swimwear was on the menu and possibly more in the future) The finished designs will unveil in the next quarterly.
