RCREEE at the High Level Policy Conference of the EU Sustainable Energy Week
June 2013, Dii strategy report “Desert Power: Getting Started” project partners organized a high level policy conference during EU Sustainable Energy Week. The event marked the launch of Dii’s strategy report “Desert Power: Getting Started”. The report discusses basic steps needed to develop an integrated, renewables-based power system in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (EUMENA). The report focuses on energy producing countries in the Dii which include Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria. Notably, RCREEE’s executive director, Dr. Tareq Emtairah participated in the second panel discussion which discussed institutional and long term investment framework for infrastructure scale up.

Innovative Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Idea Competition
In an attempt to address Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) challenges in the region, RCREEE launched an internal new product idea competition. Evaluation was based on market need, originality, ease of implementation, completeness, value to member states, and relevance to RCREEE strategies and work areas. Out of 14 idea introduced, RCREEE Intern , Amr Ibrahim was named the winner for his idea “RE and EE Online Job Portal for Arab Region”. RCREEE is currently studying the idea. Also, Amr will travel to attend a RE training course of his choice fully covered by RCREEE.
