Ranya Renée E-mail News
Greetings!

This is Nisreen writing to you while Ranya is hitting the books for the final exam in her summer session class in graduate school. I don't know about all of you, but now that the temperature in NYC is below 90 degrees, I'm in the mood to think about dancing again! ;) And just in time, because today, Monday, July 22, is the last day to register at the early rates for the Oum Koulsoum intensive on August 1-5. I've gotten a few glimpses of what Ranya is planning with Nany and the musicians and am so excited about what they have in store for everyone. CLICK HERE for the full workshop descriptions.

I hope to see you at the workshops and/or the shows on July 31 and August 4 (including Nany's U.S. performance debut!) ... read on for more ...

NYC Weekly Classes

WEEKLY CLASSES IN MANHATTAN
Thursdays, 8-9:30pm

This Thursday, July 25, Ranya's Manhattan class will be focusing on "Noora Noora" by Farid Al Atrash. We started working with this song last week, but it's fine to join in this week; the material on Thursday will be new. The following week, August 1, we'll be taking a break from weekly classes as the Oum Koulsoum intensive begins and checking out the workshop with Leila Farid

Ranya's summer class series focuses on a famous Arabic song or instrumental piece every week or two, including combinations, choreography, musical interpretation, and performance skills. Music will include works by artists such as Oum Koulsoum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid Al Atrash, Warda, and others.

Classes take place at CAP21 Studios, 18 W. 18th St., studio 603. Registration is $22 at the door. Please RSVP in advance if you can, so Ranya can tailor the class to the students' interests and needs, and feel free to contact us if you have questions about the class.

Hope to see you at an event soon! Happy dancing ...
