Summer 2013

Thank You San Rafael!
City of San Rafael approved $40,000 to officially join into the County's Gallinas Creek Watershed program. They are committed to the full $80,000 asked by county. We welcome San Rafael as Watershed Partners. Please thank the Mayor and City Council members.

McInnis Marsh Study Funded!
Thanks also to the State Coastal Conservancy for awarding a $90,000 grant to Marin County Parks and Open Space to study restoration of the diked McInnis marsh. This project is being done in partnership with LGVSD and County DPW.

Bike The Watershed
Our annual Bike Ride and BBQ will be held Sat. Aug. 17 at 10 am - 1 pmBegin (and end) at Adrian Rosal Park in Santa Venetia. We’ll head to China Camp for the annual Heritage Day event that takes place in China Camp Village. There we will stop to enjoy the cultural, historical and environmental activities before heading back to the Park for the BBQ. A donation of $5 is requested to help pay for the feast.

We Can't Live on Love Alone
Our group is extremely frugal with funds but we could use your help! If you have not donated to GWC, please do so now. If you already have, can you do it again? Any amount is greatly appreciated. We can also use help with the many projects were are working on. It's fun and rewarding to help restore a watershed -- come and find out!

Monthly Meetings
The GWC Board meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Community Room on the second floor of the Northgate Mall above the food court. Meetings are from 7 - 9 pm. All are invited and encouraged to attend. We discuss many matters of interest concerning our local area and creeks in general.
The next meeting is Thurs. Aug. 1, 2013
