One Life
Summer 2013

Greetings in the beautiful saving name of Jesus.  The past few weeks have been filled with reminders of eternity, and our purpose for living on earth now, to spend and be spent for the gospel here in United Kingdom.  I don’t know what spoke louder, the passing of a dear older Tia (Auntie,) who always encouraged me to follow the call, who gave to make my first trip to UK possible, constantly reminding me to see God’s beauty in everything, or the sudden passing of a close friends son, a young life just beginning to dawn with promise.  Maybe it was the incredible miracle of life in the babies crawling around New Life Church these days, or the greater miracle of babes in Christ speaking their first words in tongues.  Maybe it was the sense of unborn revival that I feel all around me as I walk through the streets of England, Wales and Scotland, when I encounter literally millions of souls waiting to hear the good news, but whatever it was I found myself reevaluating life in general and my life in particular.  If we are really going to reach United Kingdom for Christ, if we are really going to impact the heart of Europe for God, then something has to change.  If we are really going to reach Glasgow then I have to change.  I only have one life.

We’ve been doing a lot of evangelism here in Glasgow, and I’m realising how important every chance to share truth is, and as we carry around our guitar and cajun we want people to feel God like never before and respond to His call.   Whether it is in Cardiff, Wales (where I had the opportunity to minister in May,) or in the West End of Glasgow, we only have one life, one chance to make it count.  None of us is promised tomorrow.  We have today to change the world for Jesus, and we do it one life, one Home Bible study, one prayer meeting, one song or one conversation on the train at a time.  I want to make it count.

While in Scarborough, England to speak in Leeds Church Weekend in June, as we studied the lives of great Biblical fathers who have gone before us, I was reminded of how important it is to make it to the end.  Paul spoke of this when he said, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)  We are not there yet, but I want to make it to the end, I want to see Jesus and hear Him say well done.  But more than that, I want to see the young people of my local church, of my nation, of my generation make it.  I want to see Zach and Beanz, Vicky and Cori make it.  I want to see the people I see all around me make it.  It’s not enough to make a blast in the sky spiritually and then fade away. Our lives are meant to be enduring testimonies to the power and grace of God as long as we live.  I want to see them make it.

We had a powerful Graduation ceremony here at Harvest Bible College, and it was amusing some five years of post-Bible College ministry down the line, to hear the students, or should I say Alumni, congratulating one another “We made it!”  And after praying with them, feeding, laughing, and living with them, I am just as happy and proud of them, proud of what God has and is doing in each of them, but I want to see them make in their lives and ministries in the years to come. I want to see them make it as champions of apostolic doctrine, and lovers of truth. I want to see them make it the pearly gates with a load of people following them from all over the world.  They only have one life.

It was a few years ago, as God began to whisper new dreams and purpose into my heart, that I was given these words, You have one heart, one soul, one life, to reach the one, so reach the one.  And when we realise that Jesus literally died for each one of us, that he shed bitter tears in prayer for each one of us, it makes everything we say and do take on an eternal purpose.  Every day of life on God’s green earth is given so we can reach another, and I thank you for partnering with me to reach the one, to make it count, and make it to the end.

Speaking of making it to the end, I would like to make it to the end of my AIM term, but I desperately need more monthly partners to make that possible.  It is my desire to do everything I can to see the light of salvation poured out in UK, but I also need to keep the lights on in my wee flat.  Doors are opening to continue traveling here in UK and Europe for the Gospel, but funding is needed to make that possible.  If you feel to help by giving $25, $50 or $100 per month please let me know and I will be happy to walk through the giving process with you.  Should God place it on your heart to give a one time offering, or sharing this need with your local church, that would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like me to connect with your church, group, etc., via FaceTime or Skype, and speak about what the Lord is doing in UK, I would love to tell you :)
